MIGRATION 2014

This new series, 100 6 inch red human-ish sculptures moving in and out of their shelters, explores ideas of migration. As we humans approach 10 billion, our mobility impacts not only ourselves, but that of every other species on the planet. Because the rate of change in our biosphere is increasing, and because every species’ extinction potentially leads to the extinction of others bound to that species in a complex ecological web, the ecosystems unravel, causing the greatest number of species extinctions in 65 million years.

Ideas of migration lead to ideas of home/house/shelter, visualizations of shelters built, occupied, abandoned, and ruined along the way.

Who knows where this series will lead. Where space permits, it may join the Parade, or sound and video will expand the space beyond the gallery walls.
